Mother's Day: Knock-Down-Ginger Pizza Delivery & Dettol flowers.

Welcome to Week 2 of 12 weeks 4 Walls. I thought I would centre this post around Mother's Day seeing as so many of us are sticking to the rules of self-isolating and therefore were unable to spend any time with our mums. Plus, it was this weekend (although definitely FEELS like it was last year... I really am starting to lose track of days now.)
Mother's Day started in a most unconventional manner, which involved having a bouquet of flowers delivered, and left on the doorstep. I didn't see the courier (just as I like it right now) but I brought them in, washed my hands and then DOUSED the box, film and handles with DISINFECTANT and germ killer. Because nothing says "I love you" like the sweet smell of DETTOL.

After doing said activity for 5 minutes straight, this unfortunately resulted in the cardboard becoming decidedly SOAKED THROUGH. One more minute of my intense disinfecting routine and that box would have been history. It actually reminded me of a time in New York when we were trying to hail a taxi in the middle of a torrential downpour and Bloomingdales had given me all my Christmas presents in a PAPER BAG. Long story short, the bag got so wet, it gave way, and all of my shopping fell out onto the streets of New York, resulting in several nail varnishes (2 different shades of red in particular) being smashed to smithereens, and the Bloomingdale's teddy bear I bought looking like he'd been a victim of some kind of massacre.
I digress.
Back to the flowers. Once I was satisfied with the cleanliness of the box and packaging, the next task was to leave them on the doorstep for my mum and wave like some kind of creep from the drive. I watched from behind the glass as she opened the card, watched as she visibly appreciated the design on the front, then watched closer as she read the words inside. I won't lie to you, I felt like some kind of peeping tom. And that my friends, was Mother's Day.
When it got to the evening, feeling peckish as it was nearing dinner time (who am I kidding, I have done nothing but EAT CONSTANTLY THROUGHOUT EACH AND EVERY DAY during this whole self-isolation thing) we decided pizza was the best option. No mess, meaning we wouldn't need to wash up for the 5th time that day, just open, eat and slip immediately into food coma for 3 hours. Perfect.
We performed a risk assessment on the strategy of Justin going to pick it up, then discussed the worst case scenario of there being people inside said pizza takeaway, and the fact the shop wasn't big enough to swing a mouse in, let alone be 2 metres apart from people. No, we thought... it has to be delivery... or nothing. And I needed pizza.
"We are self-isolating" I hear Justin say on the phone to Dominos in a very serious tone. "We don't want ANY contact with anyone. Please can you just leave them on the doorstep, and then... sort of like... get as far away from the house as possible.... but while still making sure you got the right house?" Classic isolation banter. Nailed that one.
Awkward phone call over, an hour later, when it came to delivery, I kid you not, it was pizza delivery knock-down-ginger style. He literally knocked, RAN and watched from afar. Much like we used to do as kids to our poor unsuspecting neighbours, but this time, a guy in his 30's with pizza.
I mean, the pizza was stone cold by the time we had finished sanitising the garlic dip pots, pizza boxes, and bottles of drink, but needs must.

We ended the night watching a film called "Prodigy" on Netflix, chosen by my husband. An utterly terrifying horror about a woman whose child is possessed. My husband looked at me and said "Probably not the best choice of film for a pregnant woman this" ..... I'd like to point out he finally realised this as the credits were rolling at the end of the film.

Anyway, its now time to start thinking about what to eat for dinner so as I'm sure you can understand, I'm going to need to give that thought process my full attention. Seeing as all I fancy these days is pasta, pizza and cheese, it'll almost certainly involve one or more of those items. But not another takeaway Dominos... I don't think I can take the stress.
